STOREFRONT SECURITY GRANT

This new program offers funding to businesses that have been impacted by criminal activity that has resulted in destruction or damage to their storefronts.

Businesses in the Downtown Vancouver catchment are eligible to apply for this funding. Downtown Van will match up to 50% of the cost (max $5,000) incurred to repair and restore damages.

ELIGIBILITY:

Commercial street-level businesses within Downtown Van’s 90-block designated area.

Examples of damages and improvements include:

Broken windows
Broken doors
Broken locks
High-level graffiti tags removal
Anti-graffiti coating
Security Cameras
Shutters
Gates

The above list is not all-encompassing. Other improvements could be eligible if they meet the objectives of the beautification business fund.

Applications for the Storefront Security Grant will be open from October 24th, 2022 to February 28th, 2023, or until resources are exhausted. Downtown Van will review applications on a first-come, first-served basis. Successful applicants will be notified within 14 days of applying.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

The Storefront Security Grant application will be open from Monday, October 24, 2022, to Tuesday, February 28, 2023, or until resources are exhausted.
Downtown Van will review applications on a first-come, first-served basis and approve as many as possible. Successful applicants will be notified within 14 days of applying.
Only one application per business will be accepted.
Upon review and project approval, a letter of agreement will be issued detailing terms of conditions and the amount of funding approved.
Payment of claims will be provided upon the proof of payment for the project. The submission of a detailed invoice to Downtown Van will be required. Photo proof will also be required upon completion of the project.
All applications must comply with the City of Vancouver regulations. If approval from a property owner is required, a copy of the approval letter must be provided along with any applicable permits to Downtown Van when submitting the claims.
Applications must be received and reviewed by Downtown Van, and all COV permits must be issued (if required) before any work activities begin.
Funds will only be given to new projects. Projects under construction or completed projects are excluded.
Downtown Van reserves the right to turn down an application if it doesn’t align with the Storefront Security Grant objectives.
