Sofia grew up on Vancouver’s North Shore where she attended high school and university.
“Although I lived outside of the downtown core for a while, I am currently back in the heart of the city and thoroughly enjoying it,” she says. “Vancouver’s size offers a perfect balance, with numerous unique neighbourhoods, walkability, and an array of diverse food options that all contributes to a vibrant atmosphere.” Sofia’s career in the hospitality industry began when she worked for her family’s hotel business, which she considers a “wonderful part of my upbringing.”
“I currently still work for my family’s hotel business—a venture I have been a part of since university,” she explains. “Growing up in the hotel industry has been an enriching experience, allowing me to contribute to and learn from a business with deep roots in the community.
The AZUR Legacy Collection Hotel redefines the luxury boutique experience in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Their Art-Deco-inspired property “exudes timeless elegance” and transports guests to a home of glamour and sophistication.
DAHLIA Restaurant and Cocktail Bar opened near the end of last year and has quickly become one of downtown Vancouver’s favourite restaurants. The menu celebrates the flavours and style of the French Riviera and Italian Coastline, and features sustainably sourced ingredients from the local farms, fields, and waters of British Columbia.
“Looking ahead, I am excited about the prospects for our business and downtown Vancouver,” says Sofia. “As the city continues to evolve, I anticipate new opportunities and growth for our hotel. I’m particularly enthusiastic about contributing to the vibrancy of downtown and being a part of its ongoing development.”
Sofia emphasizes the importance of community engagement and the AZUR Hotel being a positive force in the community. “A highlight of running our business involves being deeply ingrained in the local neighbourhood, meeting people from all walks of life,” she explains. “The hotel industry has provided a platform to create memorable experiences for guests and foster a sense of hospitality that goes beyond just accommodation.”
“We look forward to continuing this journey and being a part of downtown Vancouver’s bright future,” she says.
