Originally from Taiwan, Ian is a recent Canadian Citizen and has lived in Vancouver for nearly five years.
He’s been working in the downtown core for the past three months as the Branch Manager at Beaucoup Bakery located at the St. Regis Hotel.
Ian believes having a bakery in downtown Vancouver has many advantages, including accessibility, exposure, convenience, and a vibrant atmosphere. “Downtowns are usually bustling with activity, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere that can be appealing to customers,” says Ian. “Downtown Vancouver often hosts various events and activities, which can also attract more people to Beaucoup and creates a dynamic environment for all.”
Beaucoup Bakery and Café has been a staple in Vancouver for a little over ten years. The first location in Kitsilano opened its doors in 2012 by pastry chef Jackie Kai Ellis. Since then, the brother-sister duo and close friends of Jackie, Betty and Jacky Hung have taken ownership of the business. In a quote from Co-Owner Betty Hung referring to the new location in downtown Vancouver, she states that “Beaucoup Bakery has always been about food and drink that brings people together and allows us to connect with our guests and the community, and we’re so excited to write this latest chapter of the Beaucoup story.” “Beaucoup Bakery and Café is where you’ll discover a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels like home,” exclaims Ian. The Parisian-inspired décor and general aesthetic are enough to get you through the door, but the pastries, coffee, and welcoming staff is what will get you to stay. “It’s truly a delightful experience for everyone!” he says.
The bakery aims to uphold and achieve the utmost quality for its products. “We strongly believe that each cup of coffee and every pastry holds significance as they have the potential to brighten someone’s day,” says Ian. Looking ahead, Ian and Beaucoup Bakery and Café is excited to grow the customer base and continue offering “the finest pastries in town.”
