Downtown Van has recently partnered with BOMA BC to conduct a Safety and Vibrancy Survey.
Downtown Van prioritizes the voices of our members, especially when it comes to community safety. To better understand the changing trends and address the concerns affecting our community, we recently conducted a comprehensive Safety and Vibrancy Survey in partnership with BOMA BC and Leger. The goal was to gather valuable insights from our members so that we can advocate for a safer downtown for everyone.
Community safety is a dynamic issue that evolves with time. By conducting this survey, we aimed to assess the safety and security environment in downtown Vancouver. This includes incidents in and around downtown buildings.
Key Findings
Based on the survey results, we are in a better position to advocate on behalf of our members.
Our findings show that:
- Safety is a growing concern in and around downtown Vancouver with over half of survey respondents considering their properties to be less safe compared to the previous year. The issue of safety and security has an impact on employee stress, staffing capabilities, and return to work strategies.
- Safety and security is a key issue, impacting business operations, employee wellbeing, and voting preferences. Over one quarter of offices are likely to close their office or move locations due to safety and security issues. The most prevalent issues are related to substance/drug abuse and crime.
